Impact XL Lab Exchange is an opportunity for innovation lab founders to accelerate their learning, envision new strategies, and share expertise and resources..  Building on the success of the 2018 YSEALI Impact XL (learn more here), the Impact XL Lab Exchange will return to the UNESCO Biosphere Reserve known as Inle Lake to offer this unique summit model again on March 17-21, 2019 and is hosted by the East-West Center with support from the U.S. State Department Young Southeast Asian Leaders Initiative.


  • Be an alumni of EWC Institute on Environment from years Fall 2016 through Spring 2018
  • Be an active founder in an EWC Lab
  • Be a citizen of Brunei, Cambodia, Indonesia, Laos, Malaysia, Myanmar, Philippines, Singapore, Thailand or Vietnam
  • Be between the ages of 20-30
  • Be available for:     
    1. pre-event online training (2 hours/week)
    2. March 17-21, 2019 event in Myanmar
    3. post-event implementation (1 year, time varies)


  • Website with detailed, up-to-date infographics about your Lab's impact and intiatives (see examples in section 4 of the application below)
  • Publish an article on the EWC Washington's ASEAN Matters for America (please link the article to your EWC Lab's website)
  • Published review of a book (written/video/podcast) on your Lab topic or Lab strategy on your LinkedIn profile


  • Accelerate "XL-erate" the development of your EWC Lab
  • Learn different types of impact business models and effective tools Labs can utilize
  • Learn how to secure investment from peers and community
  • Create partnerships and learn strategies used by other experienced EWC Lab founders
  • Become more competitive for investor funding and startup accelerators
  • Share reviews of books that are making an impact
  • Understand key aspects of Myanmar's unique history and economic changes following the recent democratic developments

Roundtrip flights to and from Inle Lake, Myanmar as well as accommodation, local transportation, activity fees, and some meals provided. Specific terms regarding these provisions will be provided to selected participants.
